Daughter of parents active members of the black movement in Brazil Luedji makes sure to carry her skin color and african roots in her music. Her own name makes this influence cristal clear Luedji was a queen of the Kingdom of Lunda an African confederation in Africa that occupied the territories that toda form Angola, The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia. Her music is in some way a representation of her African roots and her social position as a black woman in Bazil. In her participation on The Colors Show with the single version of Acalanto that has more of an electronic vibe from DJ Nyack people can see in her hair, in her voice, and style all of that influence and black proud that Luedji brings with her music. The message gets passed through even with no full understanding of the lyrics.
Luedji Luna – Acalanto on The Colors Show
he album version posted in the playlist has, even more, the stamp of the african-brazilian roots of her with a swing typical from samba and Brazilian music that comes in great part from the black culture from African slave.
Luedji Luna and her contribution for brazilian black movement
Luedji uses her music as an instrument of the black movement further than with only the songs. Her videos are, commonly, directed by Joice Prado, a black woman director that directed, among others, the video clip for acalanto
Luedji is on of my favorite brazilian singers nowadays. Her participation on The Color Show was the trigger for me to go back to listen to her musics by the time this song was posted on instagram.
