Caja de musica (poorly translated as house of music) is the second album released by the colombiann group in 2015, 3 years later their first album Hecho a mano (roughly handmade). It’s their middle album so far, since the group released three albuns in their whole career.echo a mano made a big enough impact to land them a record deal, the third album Encanto Tropical resulted in a Latin Grammy award.Caja de Musica ended up being their stepping stone, the workthat shows their growth and evolution both as composers andmusicians before the stardom of the third album. Nuestra Canción )roughly our song) opens the album giving a hint that the work will continue to explore different ryhtms going a bit deeper than th predecessor record by featuring VicenteGarcia the dominican voice gives an interesting contrast to the sweet voice of CatalinaGarcia.

Monsieur Periné and opening album tracks

Their first album, Hecho a Mano opens with La Tienda de Sombreros, which is a happy, kind of simple song with strong colombian rooots. There is almost a childish vibe toit, just like thewholealbum.

Caja de Musica opens with Nuestra Canción. Also a uptempo ballad but with a more mature performance by CatalinaGarcia and showing moreunderstanding of the nix of genres and inspirations of the group, with amore dense harmony filed with horns and rattles and choir parts. This mature approach to their music shows throughout the entire record.

To end the argument that puts Caja de Musicar9ght in the middle of the maturing proccs of the band there’s the opening track from Encanto Tropical a much more confident song, with a characteristic style, maybe a sensual vibe and production decisions onpoint that shows total control over the messageand feeling the group wants toshoecase.
