NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert are the perfect series to get to know new artists and with Monsieur Periné isn’t different. Their show was recorded in 2016 one year after winning Latin Grammyfor Best New Artist in 2015 and have their second album Caja de Musica nidicated also and at the same time it was just 2 years before their third album Encan Tropical won the Latin Grammy. The NPR show worked like a polaroid snapshot for the band in a point where they were still very rooted and close to their colombian rumba/gypsy with jazz influence music but becoming to open to a more pop sound that would result in Encanto Tropical, their third album.

Nuestra Canción (from Caja de Musica, Monsieur Periné’s second album)
Nuestra Canción is the opening track from Caja de Musica and it has a perfect dose of love and rhythm with a jazzy guitar and a strong bass and drums that makes it almost impossible to not dance along to the song.
Saor a Mi (from Hecho a Mano, Monsieur Periné debut album)
Sabor a Mi is referenced by the lead singer Catalina Garcia as a funny history because a few people used to think this song is theirs. Actual959andit’s very famous thruoughtout latin americaly Sabor a Mi is a bolero written by the mexican composer Alvaro Carrillo in 1959 and is famous throughout Latin America.
LaMuerte (from Hecho a Mano, Monsieur Periné debut album)
Probably the biggest hit from their debut album La Muerte is one of those songs that carries so much of the band identity that you can recognize it even not patying that much attention to it. Mixing spanish chorus with french verses the song is very dancy and almost happy despite the title (The death).
